I went inside of Cobb Island Market and it’s basically a small grocery store with an ice cream parlor that’s off to the side. One one side of the road is the Scuttlebutt restaurant and the other side is a small shopping center that includes a post office and the Cobb Island Market (which was the only store I saw during my time there). The commercial area of Cobb Island is pretty small and it’s the first thing you see when you cross the bridge from the mainland to the island. It looks like Cobb Island is basically a place where the watermen live and work. The houses that were inland (meaning they weren’t waterfront property) ranged from small cottages to modest two-story houses.Įven the boats that were docked on the island were pretty modest. While I saw some large homes, the vast majority of the homes I saw on this trip were pretty modest, such as the house in the next photo. I half-expected to see mansions (like Gibson Island). So I accepted the assignment and made another hour-and-a-half trip to the island. This time it was on an island known as Cobb Island. On the following day I looked on the computer and found that my next assignment was once again in Southern Maryland. Actually, I looked on my work laptop on Monday the 16th but there were no assignments available. I took a bit of a long weekend off from doing work for the Census Bureau, starting with Friday the 13th.
